In 1794, three brothers were sent to a boarding school which had strict rules. And one of such rules restricted them from visiting one another as often as they wanted. They could only see one another through the windows of their rooms, which they greatly detested. Bent on overcoming this challenge, these three brothers worked out a way of sending messages to one another. They devised a beam with a small crossbeam at each end and hung it on a pivot. These beams and crossbeams could be moved by cords, like the arms of a jumping jack. Each position of the beam and a crossbeam stood for a letter. With this device, it became easier for these boys to spell out messages in order to communicate effectively. This device was later bought from the three Chappe brothers by the French government, who used it in building signal stations along the coast, and between Paris and more important cities. That device was the telegraph.
Some of the great inventions that have added tremendous value to the existence of mankind were born as men and women tried to find a way around their obstacles. When life brings obstacles your way, how do we feel? Do you feel bitter or angry? Or do you see them as opportunities for greatness? The law restricted these three little boys from communicating with one another, but they found a way out of their predicament. And that “way” later announced their names to the world, and also brought them financial success.
You never can tell, that your challenge of today might be the pathway to your announcement to the world tomorrow. Like the words of John C Maxwell, “Adversity is always the partner of progress.” Resolve within yourself to face those obstacles with faith. You either pull them down, tunnel underneath them, leap over them, or drill a hole through them. You can’t afford to give up, because the world is waiting for you at the other end to applaud and reward you.
Finally, don’t forget that God is always ready to help us to make something sweet out of our sour situations and experiences (see Rom. 8:28).
God bless you. See you at the top.
